This "Negretti & Zambra" graphoscope viewer is in fantastic condition.
From 1870!
The viewer has a platform hinged at the base and supported on a pierced wooden stand, it has a large folding graphoscope lens, this is mounted on a further folding viewing platform this is held in places by a hook.
There is a hinged photograph/card holder at the back and the whole viewer fold flat for storage.
The rear folding card holder is missing its hook, I fear.
I can't find any splits or chips to the wood and it has taken on a lovely depth of colour and patina over the years, however, there are the scuffs, use and marks that you would expect from a well used item of this age.
All of the hinges, catches and stands work as they should.
The graphoscope lens and ground glass screen are free from any cracks or chips, but would benefit from a clean.
The front has an applied plaque with the "Negretti & Zambra, London", the stylish lettering is still clear and legible, but it is faded and the plaque has a little staining. It is made of etched bone!
The base measures 13 inches long by 7 1/4 inches wide.
I have another, larger, more intricate viewer. Feel free to message me on Instagram or through here to inquire!
