This adorable tiny cabinet/ jewlery box is a truly romantic piece— shells arranged were made between 1830 and 1890, mostly by Barbadian women working out of curiosity shops, then sold to sailors to bring home as gifts for lovers or loved ones in this case I believe this was gifted to a mother and father by a sailor son:
the back reads “mama and papa” penned in handwriting.
Made of little sea shells, seeds, book covers and brass.
